Sali, a young man of Albanian origin, has dropped out of school and works at greenhouses. He wants to save enough money to go through the tryout process at the Juventus Academy. But to make his dream come true, he must first overcome a series of hurdles in his harsh daily life.

George Georgakopoulos was born in Athens, Greece. He started an academic career at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where he finished his doctorate in the department of Civil Engineering. However, he was eventually drawn to motion pictures and enrolled in the School of Film of the Aristotle University. So far, he has participated in a number of film and stage productions, undertaking various crew positions. He has written and directed two short films. Currently, he is writing a script for a feature film with the financial support of the Greek Film Center.
Greenhouse is a coming of age film that tells a story about resilience, hope, and the pursuit of dreams. With this film, I wished to capture the struggles of a young immigrant teenager who refuses to give up on his dreams, despite the obstacles that he faces. It’s a story that hits close to home for me. As someone who has grown up in a foreign country, I can feel firsthand how challenging it can be to navigate the cultural differences and prejudices. It’s a film that I hope will inspire young people and adults alike to never give up on their dreams, no matter how difficult the road ahead may be.
