This documentary explores the traditional artistry of Cambodian pumpkin dessert-making. The film offers an intimate look at a cherished family heritage, documenting the meticulous, step-by-step process used to create this cultural staple.
Sourthearak Duong also known as T-Rex, is a film student at University of Colorado Denver (UCD) and a filmmaker in Denver, Colorado. He is from Phnom Penh city, Cambodia that located in southeast Asia. He speaks two languages Khmer and English. He is a Spring 2025 graduate of the Community College of Aurora (CCA)/Cinematic Arts, where he studied with a focus on Cinematography. While he is attending at film school in Denver, he has made some film projects at the school as a cinematographer and director. In 2024, T-Rex volunteered at Aspen Film Festival as a camera team and cam-operator for the festival. T-Rex is also worked as a tutor for DAVA organization kid camp in summer 2023, 2024 & 2025; he helped kids to create films and learn the structure of film making. The student that he helped on their film “The New Kid” which is won the GOLD KEY AWARD in Colorado State. T-Rex is also interested in creating some contents in the social media sphere such as a short video like reels. His documentary “My Grandma’s Story” has received significant acclaim on the film festival circuit. Between 2025 and early 2026, the film garnered three awards, one nomination, a semi-finalist placement, and six official selections. The U.S. Embassy in Phnom Penh collaborated with Cambodia International Film Festival (CIFF) in March 2026 to present a directorial Q&A featuring T-Rex.
