This year's programming pool includes 13 student projects and 11 first-time filmmakers, reinforcing CDFF's commitment to next generation storytellers, emerging voices, and filmmakers who are using cinema to explore identity, migration, culture, justice, family, memory, and belonging.

Stories in the 2026 FilmFreeway roster are connected to countries and communities including Puerto Rico, Colombia, Türkiye, Costa Rica, France, Switzerland, Greece, Nigeria, Senegal, Namibia, Cambodia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Burkina Faso, Iran, India, and the United States, with languages including English, French, Spanish, Wolof, Portuguese, Japanese, Bambara, Persian, Hindi, Swahili, American Sign Language, Central Khmer, Turkish, Modern Greek, and more. 

Several projects also arrive with festival recognition and screening histories connected to cities and festivals across Cannes, Paris, Tokyo, Mexico, London, Dakar, Kigali, Istanbul, Germany, Spain, and beyond.

Together, these submissions demonstrate how local Colorado filmmakers and international storytellers are part of a larger global creative movement, bringing new voices, new cinematic languages, and powerful cultural perspectives to Colorado audiences.

The Diasporic FilmHub Village Experience
From August 7-9, 2026, visitors will explore a vibrant network of cultural huts throughout the Aurora Cultural Arts District. Each hut will offer a unique experience connected to film, food, music, art, dialogue, technology, and cultural exchange.
